Invariance of Second-Order Modes of Linear Continuous-Time Systems under Typical Frequency Transformations

چکیده
This paper discusses the behavior of the second-order modes (Hankel singular values) of linear continuous-time systems under typical frequency transformations, such as lowpass-lowpass, lowpasshighpass, lowpass-bandpass, and lowpass-bandstop transformations. Our main result establishes the fact that the second-order modes are invariant under any of these typical frequency transformations. This means that any transformed system that is generated from a prototype system has the same second-order modes as those of the prototype system. We achieve the derivation of this result by describing the state-space equations and the controllability/observability Gramians of transformed systems. key words: continuous-time state-space system, second-order mode (Hankel singular value), frequency transformation, invariance, controllability Gramian, observability Gramian

On the invariance of the second-order modes of continuous-time systems under general frequency transformation [analog filters]
This paper proves the invariance of the second-order modes of continuous-time systems under general frequency transformation, that is, under reactance function. The invariance is proved by obtaining the state-space representation of the transformed system, and its controllability / observability grammians in terms of those of the original system and the reactance system. This invariance propert...
متن کاملOn the invariance of second-order modes under frequency transformation in 2-D separable denominator digital filters
This paper discusses the invariance of the second-order modes of 2-D separable denominator digital filters under frequency transformation. This paper first derives a state-space description for 2-D digital filters obtained by 2-D frequency transformation and then represents the controllability Gramians and the observability Gramians of the transformed 2-D digital filters. This description prove...
متن کاملAnalysis of Second-Order Modes of Linear Discrete-Time Systems under Bounded-Real Transformations
This paper discusses the behavior of the second-order modes (Hankel singular values) of linear discrete-time systems under bounded-real transformations, where the transformations are given by arbitrary transfer functions with magnitude bounded by unity. Our main result reveals that the values of the second-order modes are decreased under any of the above-mentioned transformations. This result i...
متن کاملZeros of nonlinear systems with input invariances
A nonlinear system possesses an invariancewith respect to a set of transformations if its output dynamics remain invariant when transforming the input, and adjusting the initial condition accordingly. Most research has focused on invariances with respect to time-independent pointwise transformations like translational-invariance (u(t) → u(t) + p, p ∈ R) or scale-invariance (u(t) → pu(t), p ∈ ...
متن کاملSystem identification of a beam with frictional contact
The nonlinear system becomes an area with numerous investigations over the past decades. The conventional modal analysis could not be applied on nonlinear continuous system which makes it impossible to construct the reduced order models and obtain system response based on limited number of measurement points. Nonlinear normal modes provide a useful tool for extending modal analysis to nonlinea...
